Sally is a qualified Early Years Teacher who has worked and volunteered in nurseries and schools since her first baby was at primary school (baby #1 is now at university!)
Following a career in sales and customer service, Sally decided to change her focus, wanting to find more fulfilment in her working life. After completing an advanced apprenticeship and level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development, Sally decided to gain school experience and worked as an Early Years Teaching Assistant before attending university.
After three years as a full-time mature student, Sally gained a first class honours degree in Early Education (3-7 years) with Qualified Teacher Status from the University of Brighton in 2016. Whilst working full-time as a Reception Class Teacher Sally completed her Masters in Early Education alongside her Early Years Teacher Status at the University of Sussex, graduating in 2020.
Sally continues to work in education part-time as an Assistant Principal for a local primary school, running a busy Early Years department including a preschool and reception classes. She completed her diploma in teaching infant massage in February 2023.
Bethany is soon to qualify as a Play Therapist and has worked with children and young people for more than twelve years.
After graduating from Birmingham City University with a first class honours degree in Early Childhood Studies, Bethany continued to work in nurseries before working for a charity where she specialised in the care and education for children with severe learning differences and physical difficulties. During this time she began training in play therapy, initially qualifying as a Therapeutic Play Practitioner in 2021. After almost four years, and nearly 200 hours of clinic practice hours, Bethany is due to qualify as a Play Therapist in early 2023.
Alongside her mynewbaby commitments Bethany continues to work part-time supporting families and young people in crisis. You can find out more about Bethany's role as a play therapist here: dragonflyplaytherapy.org
Bethany also began her diploma in teaching infant massage with Sally in 2022 and qualified in April 2023.
Sally has two daughters, 18 years apart in age.
Baby #1 is studying at University College London (UCL) and Baby #2 is currently learning how to stand up and walk.
As part of Baby #1's degree, Sally's eldest daughter is learning about management and entrepreneurship and thus, supports us with our social media pages!
Baby #2 occasionally consents to be a hand/foot model for our photographs and provides much of the content for the mynewbaby blog.
